Fee Schedules
CHL Class Fees (Paid to class instructor at the beginning of class, for training):
Scheduled Classes
- New CHL - $105.00 each
- $190.00 for Married couples attending on the same day
- Renewal - $80.00 weekends, $85 weekdays
- Active Duty Military - $80.00 (Military ID required)
To schedule a class please contact JL's Guns & Supplies either by phone or email. If the posted schedule does not meet your needs, call and check with us. We are flexible and may be able to set up a special class. Check and Cash payments due no later than arrival at class.
CHL Texas State Fees (Paid by applicant to the state of Texas with Application):
- New CHL - $140.00
- Active Duty / Reserves / National Guard - $70.00
- License is good until your first birthday after 4 years from issue date.
- Renewal - $70.00
- 5 year license
- If you are 60 years old at the time DPS receives your application - $70.00 and $35.00 every 5 years after that.
For first time applicants, you have 2 years from the date of taking the class to file your paperwork and pay the state fee.
Renewals only have 1 year from the renewal date to file your paperwork and pay the state fee.
Basic Handgun Safety and Training Fees:
Classes
- Basic course - $70.00 per person
Husband/wife, parent/sibling discounts - Full price for the first person and $20 off for each additional person. You must have proof of relationship with you at the start of class. Must take the class at the same time.
- Includes all documentation, range fee, firearm (22 LR semi-auto), and ammunition (50 rds). You may bring your own firearm and ammunition if you would like to take the class with a caliber other than 22 LR.

Firearm and Ammunition Rental Fees:
Several calibers of firearms may be rented for use in the Concealed Handgun Licensing course. Calibers from 32 ACP up to 45 ACP may be used for the CHL course. Larger calibers are authorized for CHL but the ranges we use limit you to 44 magnum maximum.
- Revolver and 50 rounds - $35.00
- Semi-auto and 50 rounds - $35.00
You must notify us in advance of the class that you will need to rent a firearm and which type you wish to rent.
